U.S. men and women drops the baton in the 4X100 relay heats at the olympics, can you believe this?

Well, the U.S. did manage to disqualify a Korean skater to give Apolo Anton Ono a gold medal and steal from another gymnast to give midget Paul Hamm a gold medal, so I bet they're gonna find a way to put the U.S. relay team into the finals.

That was an elementary mistake that could have been avoided. It made me sad.

I was horrified to see this happen to the men's team and then when it happened to the women's team a few minutes later, it seemed like a curse and something was really wrong here.

They had great teams but they both made stupid  inexcusable mistakes that caused them to be disqualified. All the training, hopes and dreams down the tubes due to a simple pass of the baton. How could they be so careless. Obviously they certainly were not focused enough. Some said they were living in the lap of luxury and it made them less than astute Some said that team leadership was very poor and as a result, they fumbled, stumbled and became disqualified.

I am sure their competitors will never stop making jokes about the US teams during the relay heats. It will take years for them to live that down.  

Also, I hope they make better team tags for them next time. All the rest of the countries had nice tags in big bold neat letters but the US had "magic marker" tags that looked like they were done up in haste at the last minute, so tacky looking.

Surprising and unbelievable.  It would be for any team involved, but it is more because world is used to see US athletes to dominate this speciality.  Same surprise on the sprint races.   Certainly, this is not US Olympics.

The US should start focusing more on exchange batton techniques than there speed.

It is unfortunate.  I think that were rattled by the Jamaican team.  They let them get in there head.
