(U.S. residents): How many people do you know right now who are unemployed?

How long have they been looking for work?

I'm married to someone who's been looking for work, gainful employment, since 2001 when he was pushed out of a job for not having a driver's license. Of course, he cannot have a driver's license because he has seizures and it would be dangerous to drive. But that is his only 'flaw'.

I have several friends who are looking for work in a variety of fields.  One has been unemployed for 10 months in the logistics field, one has been unemployed for 7 months in the computer aided pipe design field, one has been unemployed for 5 months in the HVAC industry, one is a former police officer and has been unemployed since last April (07) but he is changing careers, one worked for the State and was unemployed as of Friday.

The economy is bad... real real bad....

Surprizingly only two. But one is by choice and one is becasue he gets fired all the time for being late and calling in. It will probly rise though when the winter comes, several people I know will be laid off in the winter.
