1 U.S. dollar equals about 70 Icelandic krona.

So, as an American visiting Iceland, things should be pretty inexpensive, right? Or does Iceland price their goods high to begin with?

  1. Yes, Iceland is about the most expensive place in Europe according to my Icelandic friend.  He says that their culture is to only buy the best, the most expensive.  Get exchange rate info from www.oanda.com

  2. Iceland is a VERY expensive country to visit.  Items are priced very much higher than comparable items in the USA.

If visiting, stay in backpackers accomodations to save money!  Hotel can run $100-500

    hope this helps
