When making a U-turn at an intersection without traffic lights, do you have to yield to side-street traffic (on your left) in addition to oncoming traffic? Thanks - Paul

  1. When a driver is making a U-turn, he/she never has a right of way. The driver must yield to all traffic at that intersection and also obey whatever signs are posted.

A U-turn is usually not allowed at any intersection where there is a traffic light or where there is a prohibitive sign. In some places U-turns are not allowed anywhere between intersections either.

  2. Answer is ..... YES  you do !!!!!!

People around you don't expect the unexpected...

    And can't read your mind.

So if they pull up on your left or right ... they might start moving out when you start to turn Left ....Not realizing that your doing a U turn ...

Side note you have to yeild to on coming traffic.

If its a bigger city will be posted if not legal to do U turns

Check your local Town or Citys traffic laws added to state Laws.

  3. You need to yield to everyone plus you need to make sure that it is legal first...
