hi uh sorry to bug u guys or anything but di u know who's idea was it to add handball to the olympics? thanks answer today plz!!!! =]

If you where to name one man that was most responsible for getting Handball (modern indoor game 7X7) added to the Olympics Wiile Daume of Germany. He was the Vice President of the IOC and had been the the President of the International Handball Federation (IHF).

Germany was the host nation of the 1972 Munich games and host cities back then where able to add sports to the Olympic programme that would be popular for the host nation. As Handball is popular in Germany, Northern-Central- and Eastern Europe those member nations of the IHF convinced the IOC it would be good addition to the Olympics.

In 1936 Berlin Olympics the field version (11X11) was a part of the Olympics as Germany wanted this sport added to the programme.

Handball like ever other sport of the Summer Olympics had to receive a majority up or down vote (in 2005) among the IOC member delegates in order to remain as an Olympic sport.

* CORRECT INFO- MEN'S HANDBALL WAS ADDED TO THE OLYMPICS 1972 YUGOSLAVIA WON THE GOLD MEDAL. WOMEN'S HANDBALL WAS ADDED 1976. NOT JUST FOR THE WOMEN IN THE 1970'S.

HITLER MAY HAVE VERY WELL WANTED HANDBALL IN THE 1936 OLYMPICS HIS DEATH WASN'T THE REASON IT WAS REMOVED AS YOU SEE IN 1946 2 VERSIONS FIELD AND INDOORS AND BY 1964 INDOOR VERSION HAD BECOME MORE POULAR AS FIELD FELL OUT OF FAVOR.

Almost every country in Europe has many people playing it. And NOT the American Handball that is like raquetball. It's a mix of football, soccer, and basketball. Why shouldn't they add it to the Olympics?

Germany created the sport of Handball during the early centuries. It was not a widely known sport, until the 1800-1900s. It was the idea of Adolf Hitler during World War II to add Handball to the Olympics. It was later removed after the death of Adolf Hitler, but then replaced in the 70's but only for Women's.
