U.n.=united nations or useless nations?

Question

since its conception the u.n.has failed,first korea,then cuba,which nearly led to a nuclear war, china invading tibet followed by vietnam war.the slaughter in cambodia,chinese threats against taiwan,slaughter in darfur,mugabe in zimbabwe,butchery between the hutsis and tutsis,millitary in burma,dispute between palestinians and jews.what good is the u.n.their daily food bill could feed millions around the world.the money that is wasted on the members of the u.n could relieve the debts of so many countries.the question is can anyone justify the u.n? sorry the above events are out of sinc.but there is so many that i have missed due to running out of characters.

I am sorry to see you so bitter about the UN, they mediated the peace settlements in Korea, the Suez, the Six Day War.

It is not there fault that the United States veto has been used to prevent the enforcement of Security Council resolutions giving the occupied territories in Gaza and the West Bank back to the countries they were taken from. They tried to keep the US from invading Iraq. They are still working to keep the US from invading Iran. The US state dept official recognition of the slaughter in Rwanda was a memo saying that State dept employees had to avoid making any comments or memos that used the word 'Genocide'

  Don't blame the UN in most cases the decisions that are made are not enforced because of Vetoes from the permanent members of the security council and most of those vetoes come from Washington.

The problem with the UN is that it is composed of sovereign nations.  Since each member is sovereign, the UN doesn't actually have any power to enforce rules or treaties or international laws.

We (the US) pushed for the creation of the UN, hoping it would foster cooperation between nations, provide a forum for airing grievances, a framework for agreements between nations, help with mediation of disputes, etc.etc.  But it only does that if the members respect it.  And nobody disrespects it more than us!

Most US presidents and Congresses have total contempt for the UN unless it backs up something we wanted.  We blast other nations for ignoring UN resolutions and rules, but we ignore them completely when they are inconvenient for us.  

But GW Bush has raised this contempt to a whole new level.  He felt like he could just order the UN around,he apparently had the idea that the UN was no more than a branch of the US State Dept.

So no wonder it's ineffective!

Useless nations because they don't do anything, and they definitely don't enforce anything. It's basically a useless organization that are being fed tax dollars from all over the world.

The U.N. = Useless Nations because pieces of paper without the backing of warriors with sufficient Killing Power and Will are useless.
