the infra in hyd is very good

u will always see roads being extended and FOBs (Foot-Over-bridges) being constructed

the skyline is extermely modern, but it has a LOT of greenery too

a few more yrs, we'll be a metro!

1. Infrastructure in Hyderabad has seen a steady improvement in past 10 years. The Hyderabad growth story began with advent of Chandrababu Naidu (CBN) government in AP.The Government of AP (GoAP) under CBN first undertook study of development of infrastructure in Asian Tiger Nations. Based on this CBN formulated the 2020 vision plan for development of "Swarnandhrapradesh" (Golden AP).One of the main planks of this vision was to set Hyderabad as a model city for rest of the state. It was decided that the route to prosperity of AP will be through development of Software Industry and Biotech Industries which were seen as the Core strengths of the Telugu people, who were mainstay of boom in Silicon Valley and Bio-Tech centers in USA. Further the GoAP also decided to give a boost to tourism industry as was done by Southeast Asian nations like Singapore and Malaysia.

2. To develop these fields the GoAP realized that it is necessary to develop infrastructure in a big way. So roads in Hyderabad were widened and feeder roads to the city from rest of AP were strengthened. Flyovers were built in corridors of the city where there was potential for increase in traffic due to new software and biotech units. A very cheap form of Metro Rail was created with help of railways. It is called as Multimodal transport system and arrangements were made to dovetail these with schedules of connecting bus services. Of late the congress government has carried on the good work and introduced foot over bridges across busy streets. They also have plans now to introduce Metro Rail in the city.

3. The CBN govt initiated a Green field airport for Hyderabad of world class standard. The present govt has seen to it that this project becomes a reality. The new airport is being built by M/S GMR Infra and is set to become a role model for Public Private Partnership (PPP).The new airport will be linked to city by an elevated high-speed road way. It will be also linked to the software city of Madhapur and biotech city by way of an outer ring road of top quality. Besides there are provisions made in the master plan to take metro rail inside the new airport.

4. To develop software industry the GoAP took initiative of developing a new software park now famous allover India as "Hi-tech City” The park is unique in style and has become the nucleus for development of Hyderabad into major software development centre. Around this building now there are large numbers of public and private software parks. This area, which was hitherto strewn with rocks and was deserted has now become a booming software city..

5. The Genome valley, a biotech Park was created and large number of biotech giants and pharma giants are functioning from Hyderabad.

6. Tourism has been given big boost with development of the area around Hussain Sagar, a lake in the middle of Hyderabad. The area is now having various forms of entertainment like Cineplexes, Hotels, and Water Sports etc.

7. To enable sufficient water supply, water from Krishna River is pumped to the city, and supplied. The city was having water problems earlier but of late there has been good rainfall for successive two monsoons and water is not a problem now.

8. To ensure that sufficient manpower is available to man the software industry, institutions of higher learning such as ISB and IIIT have been established. To improve school level education large number of International and National schools have come up in the city. Several housing schemes have been encouraged by the govt to house the newly arriving workforces of the sunrise industries.

9. The youngsters in city can have gala times at pubs and discos. For the more serious adults the city has temples in abundance. The city boasts of a international convention centre called “HITEX”, which has seen many prestigious international conferences. Large number of Hotels of both Budget and premium variety are being built in city.

10. Today most retail companies find Hyderabad to be fertile ground for test marketing due to cosmopolitan culture of the city.”Reliance Fresh”, the first retail venture of RIL opened recently in Hyderabad.

11. Hyderabad also boasts a concept called “E-Seva centers”. At these centers citizens can pay all taxes, bills. They can obtain birth certificates; licenses. You can even get rail and bus tickets.
