no way that is mean, even though children today are not as well behaved as they were back then they still shouldn't do that.

Wow this could spark a fantastic debate.

I am not sure about paddling ...however there needs to be more restricitve punishment. Some kids are out of control and would laugh at the paddle!

I sure wouldn't want to get either ... but I guess sometimes they might be the only things that "bullies" would understand.

Ain't ever gotten paddled at school, but I've heard usually about 3 to 5 whacks, maybe 10 maximum. Mostly on the seat of the trousers. Seems that would be mild compared to what most paddling dads would do !!
