U-tube manometer i attached to a tank of gas in which the pressure is 104.0 kPa. The manometer liquid is mercury, with a density of 13.59 g/cm*3. if g=9.81 m/s*2 and the atmospheric pressure 101.3 kPa, calculate [a] the difference in the manometer, ic cm, and [b] the gage pressure of the gas, in kPa.

  1. b). Gauge Pressure = abs pressure - atm pressure

    P = 104 - 101.3 = 2.7kPa

    a). Pressure = rho * g * h

    2.7 kPa = 13.59g/cm³ * 9.8m/s² * h

    2.7 kPa = 13.59g/cm³ * k/1000 * (100cm/m)² * 9.8m/s² * h

    h = 0.002 cm
