UAB women volleyball team receive two more players for 2012 season – Volleyball news
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) women’s volleyball team, which has the official mascot of Blazers, has received two new freshmen players for the 2012 regular season.
Emma Schroer and Ally Peters have been added to the roster of UAB women’s volleyball team just recently. Schroer plays at setter’s position, while Peters has expertise as outside hitter. Both players have great many achievements to their names and UAB has
made the right choice to hire them for 2012 season.
The head coach of Blazers, Kerry Messersmith had very positive remarks about Emma. She regarded her as a well-rounded athlete and welcomed her in the team. Furthermore, she added, “Emma is a very skilled player. She doesn't have a whole lot of club volleyball
experience, but she played at a high level for a successful high school program at Ogallala.”
Similarly, speaking of Ally Messersmith, she said, “Ally has great ball control and is a very hard hitter. She should compete for playing time right away. Her dad is a high school basketball coach, and she comes from an athletic family. She has also played
high-level club volleyball, which will serve her well as she makes the transition to the college game.”
The 5-foot-10 Schroer previously proved her endeavours at Ogallala High School and contributed a lot to the overall success of her school’s volleyball team. She took part in final eight of the Nebraska state tournaments and emerged as letterwinner for four
years. In her final season at Ogallala High School, she recorded 200 kills and added more than 450 assists. She spent better time as a setter for Ogallala but also played as an outside hitter for quite some time.
Equally talented and smart Peters comes from Medina High School. She has good height of six feet, which provides her a competitive edge in the game. She finished her career at Medina High School with a total of 1046 kills and 130 aces. She was honoured to
have seven highest single-match kill totals in the history Medina High School volleyball programme.
UAB, which rounded off the 2011 season with an overall record 23-9, has high hopes to further improve its statistics in the running season. The addition of new players is likely to have a good impact on the performance of Blazers in the regular season games.
