UAE offers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaqib-Javed-c41431 an opportunity to coach their national team – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistani medium-fast bowler, Aaqib Javed (39), has been shortlisted by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 cricket board to coach their national side.
The right-arm bowler made his ODI debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at Adelaide, on Dec 10, 1988 and went on to represent his country in 163 One Day Internationals, along with playing in 22 5-day matches.
He was only 16 when he made his Test debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. He further played a key part in Pakistan's 1992 World Cup victory with exceptional bowling performances.
Over the last decade, the 39-year-old has been involved in various coaching stints, which began with training the younger generation at the Lahore Regional Academy.
His notable feats included guiding the U-19 team to success in the 2004 World Cup. Since then, he has been intermittently performing his duties with the national side, both as a bowling and assistant coach.
Considering his past experience, the medium-pacer also emerged as a strong candidate for the role of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595 was appointed on an interim basis, while Aaqib was retained as the bowling coach.
Dilawar Mani, chief-executive of UAE Cricket Board, has shown eagerness in appointing a coach of Aaqib’s caliber.
"It's a very sensitive case as the fact is that he is still holding a post with the Pakistan team. But Aaqib was a wonderful cricketer and is a proven coach, and it would be great if we are able to hire him." Furthermore he says “Out of those 30 we personally approached a couple of coaches including Aaqib, but nothing is finalised yet nor has he agreed on any deal with us.”
The current UAE coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Intercontinental Cup, where despite some inspirational performances, the team barely missed out on becoming Twenty20 World Cup qualifiers.
Pakistan Cricket Board will also be deliberating upon retaining the instrumental mentor at a stage, when the team is on the winning track and any change in the structure can break their new-found momentum.
