  1. I was THRILLED to be at Berkeley! Search through Y!A, and you will find no one more passionate about Berkeley than me.

How I loved Berkeley, let me count the ways...

    1. The caliber of students is astounding. Everyone is brilliant, but a little off-kilter.

    2. The playing field is level. No one cares where you're from, who your parents are or who they know. You are as good as your work. Lots of hard workers at Cal.

    3. Lots of passion! People care about things, whether it's Obama or the football team.

    4. Sensory overload. There so much to do, so much to see. You can study things you won't find at other universities. Everything from psychology to Slavic studies.

    5. Nobel Laureates on faculty. AWESOME.

    6. We have our own elements on the periodic table.

    7. Rallies, protests and speeches. I saw Jesse Jackson speak on the steps of Sproul during my first week as a freshman.

    8. Rock concerts at the Greek Theater.

    9. Geeky dating, but that may just be me 'cause I think geeks are s**y.

    10. Tightwad Hill, the hillside overlooking the stadium. If you're too poor to buy tickets to Big Game, come here, let's cheer, and don't forget the beer!

  2. I was happy despite the lack of sleep (my major was time consuming).  It's the most intellectually challenging experience I have ever experienced.  I still experience that intellectual challenge whenever I'm in a room full of Berkeley alums.
