UCLA Bruins’ Kevin Prince sidelined
UCLA Bruins’ starting quarterback Kevin Prince was forced to sit out of Tuesday’s practice with the club, as he is still suffering from a sore knee.
Prince sustained the knee injury in the second quarter of the Bruins victory over the Texas Longhorns over the weekend. After he suffered the injury Prince was taken off the field and argued with the team’s trainer to let him continue playing. The quarterback
did not miss a play, re-entering the game and scampering for 50 yards on the day and earning a 38-yard rushing touchdown.
Nevertheless, it seems as though the strain Prince placed on his knee may have been too great, as he has had it wrapped since Saturday and swelling has yet to go down. An MRI was performed on the knee and it revealed there was no structural damage. However,
the club decided to hold the youngster out of practice because of the swelling.
Prince spoke about the injury, saying. “The last two days when I’ve woken up in the morning it’s felt great and as the day goes on it gets stiff and gets swollen. I’m not too concerned about it. I think as we keep on going and I keep getting treatments, I’ll
get better.”
The Bruins are hoping that Prince will be available for their week five game against Washington State on Saturday.
UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel explained the club’s decision to keep Prince out of Tuesday’s practice, saying. “We thought it best to rest him today and we’ll see where he is tomorrow. I’ll wait and hear from the trainers, what they thing is the best course
of action. It’s not anything to do with any structure, there’s just some swelling.”
UCLA shocked #7 Texas over the weekend, posting their second win over a nationally ranked team in as many weeks after defeating #23 Houston in week three.
The Bruins currently sit at 2-2, with a 0-1 record in conference play.
