UCLA’s Kevin Prince uncertain for game against Oregon
UCLA Bruins starting quarterback Kevin Prince’s status is uncertain for the club’s upcoming game against the Oregon Ducks on Thursday 21 October.
Prince originally hurt his knee against the Texas Longhorns on 25 September and was forced to sit out the club’s game on 2 October against the Washington State Cougars. The Bruins were able to secure a
win over the Cougars and Prince was back in the line-up for their game against the Cal Golden Bears. However, during the Bruins bye week Prince re-aggravated the knee and is now uncertain for the start against the Ducks.
Prince had an MRI on the knee on Monday and sat out practice. However, the results of the MRI have not yet been made available.
Prince spoke about the injury and the fact that the knee has not been healing as quickly as he would have preferred.
“It wasn’t necessarily getting better. It hasn’t been improving as fast as we would have like it to, so they just want to look at it to make sure we get a good picture of what is going on in there and
to make sure that nothing is changed, and if it has, then how to fix it.”
If Prince is unable to take the field against the Ducks, back-up Richard Brehaut will fill in for him under centre. Brehaut spoke about the possibility of getting his second start his season, after getting
his first start against Washington State, saying.
“I can’t control the coaches and what their decisions are. I can’t control how Kevin’s leg feels. I can only control how I got out every day and prepare. So that’s really what I try and work on. I don’t
worry about all the outside stuff, who is getting the nod or whatever.”
So far this season Prince has tossed for 384 yards and three touchdowns.
