The Spanish giants finally made a breakthrough in the nineteenth minute of the game and what better comeback could it be for the Argentinean star Lionel Messi. Messi found the ball at his feet right outside the box as Andres Iniesta
perfectly placed it for him. He found the perfect spot and blasted it into the net to help his team with a goal.
With Barcelona leading, things became slow as the Spanish giants tried to move the ball around themselves; however, David Villa got a one-on-one opportunity but the shot was deflected and the Spanish champions only got a corner
that turned to nothing.
After the half hour mark, the fans saw David Villa missing out on another wonderful opportunity. The critics already criticized the Spanish Champions over the fact that they were missing out on a lot of chances, and even though
they were making a lot of moves, they were still not finishing the ball into the net.
Andres Iniesta was the one who started the move yet again. With Iniesta crossing the ball into the box, it was Alves who passed it on to Messi who touched it towards Villa who was running towards the ball and shot it with immense
power. However, the shot was well blocked by the Danish goalkeeper and the score remained the same, with Barcelona leading the game.
Copenhagen were finding it difficult to defend against the Spanish giants but they finally managed to counterattack during the thirty fourth minute but the attack was well defended by Gerard Pique and Pinto was the one who saved
the day for Barcelona.
During the thirty fifth minute, Iniesta got pass two defenders and dived in the penalty area but did not get a penalty for it. However, the very next minute, a constructive move saw Gerard Pique and Lionel Messi being two on one
on the Danish goalkeeper. After the ball ended into the net from Lionel Messi’s foot, Pique was flagged outside and another goal was disallowed.
Daniel Alves got a wonderful opportunity during the 41st minute and the Brazilian right back got past three defenders from the right flank and after a little dribbling of the ball, his left footed shot was well saved
by the Danish goalkeeper who simply caught it.
Barcelona were a goal up after the 42nd minute but there was one thing that they were trying to concentrate on and those were the counterattacks that they always concede on. Even against the Greek side Panathinaikos,
Puyol and Gerard Pique came too much towards the half line and the counterattack almost cost them a game but it was later saved by their hero, Lionel Messi.
Barcelona were moving the ball around just like they always did and the home side were the ones who were dominating the game throughout the first half. The Danish side did try to attack but it was Josep Pep Guardiola’s side who
barely left the oppositions’ half and they kept on trying to score goals.
The newly signed David Villa did try to score a lot of goals for the club but unluckily he did not find the net; however, he did actually manage to hit the cross bar. There were many chances for the Blaugrana wearing side and they
were constantly being a threat for FC Copenhagen; however, counterattacks were still a threat for the home side.
After the first half, Barcelona were leading the game 1-0 as their “main man”, Lionel Messi, did his job and found the corner of the goal from right outside the box and helped his team lead the game.
