UEFA Champions League Final Preview – Manchester United versus Barcelona: Key Battles (Part 2)
After elaborating on the possible face-off between http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and his opponent on the night in Manchester United’s colours.
Whether it be Rafael Da Silva, Fabio Da Silva or John O’Shea, Villa’s movement and trickery are sure to cause Manchester United all sorts of problems at Wembley on 28th May, 2011...
David Villa versus Fabio da Silva
When Barcelona signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757, Sir Alex Ferguson was quite disappointed. The Scotsman was believed to be interested in signing the Spanish striker
from Valencia but he was denied this opportunity when Barcelona moved in early for his transfer right after the Spanish season ended with their La Liga triumph.
Ferguson latter suggested in one of his interviews to the media that United were interesting signing a certain player whose deal was already done before the World Cup kicked off further suggesting that it was Villa who was the
apple of Sir Alex’s eye. Nonetheless as Manchester United prepare to face off against Barcelona at Wembley on 28th May, the Red Devils’ will be wary of the fact that Villa is like a wounded animal at the moment.
Many have suggested that the Spanish striker is suffering from a burn-out because he has played three seasons on the go now without a break. Villa featured regularly in the 2009-2010 La Liga season with Valencia before travelling
to South Africa to participate in the FIFA World Cup. He then joined up with Barcelona for the 2010-2011 season and now he is set to take the stage at Wembley. However experts also acknowledge the fact that Villa is a game-changing player. He has the ability
to score against any opposition but he has been on a low run of form of late.
Regardless Barcelona will surely attack Manchester United right hand side which is their weakest defensive department. Whether it is John O’Shea who takes up the right back spot or either of the Da Silva brothers, Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson
has a tough decision to make. O’Shea is a better defender than Fabio or Rafael but he lacks composure on the ball which can be suicidal for United against a team such as Barcelona.
On the other hand, Fabio is a much better defender than http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rafael-c30339 and is also good on the ball. Therefore for now it seems that older of the twins will start the match and be pitted against Villa. The Spanish striker will make his
runs in behind Fabio therefore the Brazilian full back will need to be alert and aware with regard to his opponent’s movement. Not only that, Fabio will also have to curb his offensive tendencies as he has been known to venture forward in order to provide
support to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Valencia-c6345.
It will be interesting to see where this matchup between Villa and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 goes. Given Villa’s lack of form recently, Fabio is expected to have an easy time but any complacency on the part of the Brazilian right back will be duly
punished by the ex-Valencia target-man.
