UEFA Champions League Match Report: Arsenal 2 vs 1 Borussia Dortmund – Part 2
Following the break, both the teams came out of the tunnel with just the three points on their mind and this caused them all to play some brilliant football.
In the 48th minute, Kagawa and Lewandowski combined brilliantly and the latter played Kagawa on with a brilliant through ball. The Japanese international surged forward and took a pop at goal, but was denied by Szczesny, who made an outstanding
save with his legs.
In the 49th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-Song-c4804 went on to show just how skilful he is, as he made a tantalizing run forward, while beating three Dortmund players along the way. He then zipped towards the box before playing a brilliant cross towards the far post.
With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 being in top form, it was only obvious for him to be the quickest player to react, as he went on to head the ball from close range straight into the back of the net.
In doing so, the Dutch man gave the Gunners the much deserved lead in the game, as the Premier League side looked destined to pick up all three points from the game.
In the 60th minute, Arsenal had another glorious opportunity to double their lead. Ramsey played Gervinho on with a timely pass and the winger latched onto the ball and darted goalwards. With just the keeper to beat, the forward decided to shimmy
to the side, only to see Hummels storm past him and knock the ball behind for a corner kick.
The opportunity should have ended in a goal, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755’s inability to make up his mind ended up costing both him and the Gunners from going two up in the game.
In the 87th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Vermaelen-c35002. Van Persie once again found himself unmarked in the box, as he smacked another shot into the back
of the net.
In the dying stages of the game, Dortmund managed to score a very late consolation goal. After some poor defending by the Gunners, Kagawa was given too much space in the box, as he went on to slot the ball into the back of the net.
Nonetheless, the match ended with the Gunners beating Dortmund by two goals to one and ensuring their spot in the knock out stages of the tournament.
