UEFA Champions League Match Report: Borussia Dortmund vs Arsenal – Part 1
Arsenal travelled to Germany to take on Borussia Dortmund in both the sides first group game in the UEFA Champions League.
Going into the game, both the sides seemed to be doing equally as poorly in their domestic leagues and for that very reason, it was close to impossible for anyone to predict who would come out on top in the game.
The match kicked off with both teams attacking each other, right from the referee’s whistle to start thigns in the game.
In the 6th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755 came close to opening the scoring, but was denied by a brilliant tackle. Then in the same play, Dortmund came close, but saw an effort sail well over the bar.
In the 12th minute, Dortmund nearly found the back of the net once again. Gotze went on to play a brilliant pass to Lewandowski, who seemed to be on the brink of scoring a goal, only for Sagna to deny his effort from crossing the line at the very
last minute.
In the 33rd minute, Benayoun went on to play a ball forward, only to see it get defended and then deflected back in his direction. The striker then played Van Persie on, who smacked the ball goal wards, only to see the keeper deny his effort behind
for a corner.
In the 42nd minute, Van Persie won the ball back in the Dortmund half and played Walcott on. The winger then swept back a brilliant pass towards the striker, who went on to curl the ball into the back of the net using his weaker right foot.
Soon after, the first half came to an end and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 by a goal to nil. However, the team was not going to be receiving a half time talk from Arsene Wenger, who was banned from the touch line for the game and hence Pat Rice
was going to be giving the team the motivational talk during the break.
