UEFA Champions League Match Report: Borussia Dortmund vs Arsenal – Part 2
The second half kicked off a whole lot slower than the first half and it wasn’t until the 61st minute, that the first chance of the second half was created.
Gervinho went on to power his way towards the Dortmund goal and then tried to take a shot at goal. Unfortunately for the Gunners, the Dortmund keeper went on to spread himself just enough to prevent the Arsenal forward from scoring a second goal for the
North London team.
The game quieted down once again for a long period, but in the 82nd minute Dortmund came awfully close to scoring.
A corner fell into the feet of Subotic, who took a pop at goal and managed to pull out a fine save from Szczesny, who somehow caught the ball in between his legs and helped Arsenal maintain their lead in the game.
In the 83rd minute, Gotze went on to play a one – two with Perisic and then took a shot at goal. Unfortunately, the midfielders attempt went on to sail just wide of the mark and resulted in Arsenal still hanging on to their narrow lead.
In the 88th minute a free – kick rebounded in the Arsenal area and fell to Perisic. The second half substitute then went on to volley the ball with perfection and saw his effort sail into the top corner of the goal. As a result, Dortmund and Arsenal
were now level with one goal apiece in the game.
The match soon came to an end, with both teams looking to hold onto what they had near the end of the second half.
With both sides trying to get something out of the game in the dying stages, they ended up cancelling each other out and hence the match ended with both side drawing the game with one goal apiece.
