UEFA Champions League Match Report: Manchester City vs Napoli – Part 1
Manchester Cit played host to Napoli at the Etihad stadium, in what was City’s first ever game in the UEFA Champions League. Going into the game City were being considered to be biggest surprise package of the tournament, as no one was really sure of what
to expect from the team. On the other hand, Napoli were also being hailed as a team who could go on and shock a number of teams, given their brilliant form last season in the Italian Serie A.
The match kicked off with City taking the game to Napoli early on. In the 3rd minute Nasri went on to claim a loose ball and had a pop at goal, only to see his effort sail wide of the mark early on.
In the 13th minute of the game, Aguero and Dzeko combined brilliantly, before firing at goal. His effort was a rather good one and required the keeper to touch it to parry it behind. However, the referee’s seemed to miss that touch and ended up
awarding the visitors with a goal kick.
In the 17th minute, Napoli came close to breaking the deadlock. Lavezzi burst forward and then went on to fire a shot at the City goal. His effort beat everyone, but just couldn’t beat the post.
In the 35th minute, Yaya Toure went on to receive a brilliant pass from Aguero. He then took a venomous shot at the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 goal, but this time around his shot came off the underside of the woodwork.
In the 40th minute, Kolarov went on to take a free kick from a dangerous area. His effort beat just about everyone and seemed to be on its way into the goal. However, De Sanctis went on to produce a fine save and prevented his side from going
down in the dying stages of the game.
Soon after, the first half ended with both sides heading into the tunnel with the score card reading nil all.
