UEFA Champions League Match Report: Manchester United vs Benfica – Part 2
The second half of the game kicked off with United looking to take the game to Benfica early on.
In the 52nd minute, after a series of some brilliant passes, United saw Young get into a great shooting position once again. This time around, the winger couldn’t even pull of a decent shot, as the Benfica defence went on to block him once again.
In the 59th minute, United finally managed to get the breakthrough, as they scored the goal which gave them the lead in the game.
Following some poor defensive work, which saw the Portuguese side fail to clear their lines, the ball was floated in by Evra. Fletcher proved to be the quickest player to respond to the cross and went on to head the ball past the keeper and into the net.
Just two minutes later, Benfica went on to equalize in the game, as they cut down United’s celebrations in the game.
