UEFA Champions League Player Ratings: Bayer Leverkusen vs Chelsea – Chelsea
Chelsea travelled to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 to take on Bayer Leverkusen. The game was crucial for the Blues, as they needed to pick up at least one point from it, in order to have a favourable chance of progressing to the knock out stages of the tournament.
Despite scoring the opening goal, the Blues couldn’t contain the home side, who went on to sneak in a very late goal, which saw them beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 by two goals to one.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837: The Chelsea keeper managed to make two brilliant saves in the span of one minute, but apart from that, his performance just wasn’t up to the mark. His inability to close down Sam, also proved to be costly and resulted in the German side scoring the equalizing goal in the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 rather well. However, he was caught napping in the build up to Leverkusen’s equalizing goal.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542: Had a poor start to the game and kept giving the ball away. However, he seemed to settle down later on and proved to be much more composed.
Jose Bosingwa: Was smart going forward and managed to make some good defensive interceptions.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895: The defender seemed to finally be back to his best, as he made some brilliant tackles. His defensive vision seemed to be back to its best and he seemed to be a much different player, in comparison to the one that was part of the Chelsea side this past weekend.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramires-c30523: Proved to be the engine in the Chelsea side once again. Worked quite hard, but seemed to tire down later on. Had a decent performance on the whole.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097: The midfielder started off on the back foot, but grew into the game as the match progressed. Could have scored a goal, but it managed to just evade him. Nonetheless, showed his class and capabilities.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-Meireles-c30678: Played a holding role and didn’t get forward much. It still seems unclear as to what his job is in the Chelsea squad, but given that, his passing was quite alright.
Juan Mata: The Spaniard was unusually quiet during the game and hardly managed to make any notable contributions during the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044: Scored the opening goal of the game and seemed lively. Should have been awarded a penalty, but the referee chose to give the home side the advantage.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076: Had a good solid game and used his pace quite well. A goal would have really been the perfect reward for his hard work in the match.
