UEFA Champions League Player Ratings: Benfica vs Manchester United – Manchester United
Manchester United travelled to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 to take on Benfica in their first game of the Champions League season. Going into the game, United were being hailed as the favourites to come out on top, but the team just couldn’t seem to match the pace that Benfica
were setting in the game and as a result, they had to settle for a one all draw in the end.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anders-Lindegaard-c5553: The keeper was exceptionally good in the game and made some fine saves and stops throughout the game. He couldn’t do anything to deny Cardozo, but was flawless apart from that.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231: The full back had a decent performance, but didn’t provide that extra something that everyone expect him to give to the team. He was also the captain for the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Smalling: Seemed to have one of his worst games in a United jersey. Struggled to keep up with the pace that Benfica were setting and didn’t get any help from his defensive partner.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonny-Evans-c19085: The worst player on the pitch during the game. Failed to have any impact on the game and was caught ball watching when Cardozo went on to score the opening goal of the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Da Silva: Found it hard to contain the Benfica attack and didn’t get up as often as he would have liked to.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985: Scored an exceptionally good goal and used every ounce of his experience to try and get something out off the game. Brought the game to life time and time again, but started to fade out near the end of the game.
Ji-Sung Park: Worked hard like he always does, but didn’t really make any notable contributions to the game and was invisible for most parts of the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282: The midfielder didn’t give the team what they needed in order to get forward. His passing was average and his ability to read the game was also average.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Fletcher-c10361: The midfielder made a few good passes, but seemed to be losing the ball far too often and this resulted in the United midfield falling all over the place.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Valencia-c6345: His pace was his greatest gift in the game. He played the pass to Giggs which led to United scoring. Could have performed a little better, in order to help his side pick up all three points.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736: The striker seemed to be below par against Benfica, as he just couldn’t find a way beyond the Portuguese clubs defenders.
