UEFA Champions League – Roma vs. Bayern Munich – Half Time Report (Part 2)
The game was very much one sided affair even though the Italian side tried their best to take the advantage of their home ground and crowd. In Rome, Claudio Ranieri’s side looked to be very weak and were not at their best as they were
lagging the same spark that they had last season. However, they were doing their best but the German strikers were simply too much to handle for the Italian defenders.
It was Mario Gomez yet again who took the responsibility of scoring goals for the German Champions as he stepped up and managed to score two goals in only a span of 6 minutes. The first goal was scored during the 33rd minute
when Frank Ribery helped his team mate with a wonderful cross and Gomez made no mistake in planting the ball into the net. The second goal was assisted by the FIFA World Cup golden boot winner Thomas Mueller. The youngster never disappoint whenever he is on
the field for his side and in case he is not scoring goals, he is always there to help his side in scoring goals. Mueller saw a wonderful opportunity to score a goal but the German winger decided to give a pass to his team mate who was there to help his side
take a two goal advantage.
The German Champions totally owned the show as they were passing perfectly and were toying with the Italian defence lines. Even though Roma were at their home, they were simply not in control of the game. The Germans were passing the ball
well and were very well organized at the back to help their goalkeeper in keeping a clean sheet.
It was definitely a “must watch” midweek UEFA Champions League fixture as both the sides were expected to do wonders. Every side is expected to perform fabulously in Europe but these two sides had this extra spark because Roma happens
to be a very ambitious Italian side who are always looking to conqueror the football plane on all fronts while the Germans are performing in Europe to win the UEFA Champions League as they managed to come the closest to winning last year but suffered a loss
against Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan who totally outplayed Louis Van Gaal’s side.
The first half was totally one sided and even though the Roman side were trying their best to get back into the game, they simply could not come to level terms against one of the best sides in Europe, Bayern Munich. Van Gaal definitely
did his homework and he knew what cards to play and his team were doing exactly what was required of them – scoring goals and keeping most of the ball.
The first half ended with Bayern Munich leading the game with two goals; however, football is a game that simply cannot be decided until the final whistle is blown and that is why with Roma being at home, they are expected to do wonders
and they just might pull off a miracle even if they manage to draw in the second half.
