UEFA Champions League Semifinal: Match Report: Manchester United vs. Schalke’ 04 (2nd Leg) – Part 2
In the 32nd minute, United doubled their lead in the game, just 6 minutes after their first goal.
After a loose ball was played towards Gibson just inside the Schalke area, he went on to thrash a shot towards Neuer. Just when it looked like the keeper would make an easy save, he somehow let the ball spin past his gloves and into the back of the net.
As a result, United was now leading by two goals to nil and by four goals to nil on aggregate.
In the 35th minute of the game, Schalke finally managed to score a goal against the resilient United. After a mix up in the United area, the ball fell towards Jurado, who went on to smash a superb shot into the top left corner of Van der Saar’s
goal. He hit the shot with such ferocity that it left Van der Sar stranded and with no chance to keep the ball out.
From the kick off, United attacked the Schalke goal once again. He went on to round Neuer but couldn’t beat Howedes, who managed to block the forward’s effort on
the line.
Just before the end of the first half, in a span of five minutes, ranging from the 37th minute to the 41st minute, Gibson, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-Scholes-c29394 and Anderson were all booked for United.
Nonetheless, following these bookings in the first-half of the game, the first 45 minutes ended with United in a rather comfortable position in the game.
At the half time break, Alex Ferguson was bound to ask his team to do more of what they had been doing throughout the game.
Likewise, Schalke’s players were being asked to go all out since their chance of making it to the final in Wembley was now up to the determination the players would demonstrate.
