However, just before the Dutch forward started to celebrate, the referee raised his flag to signal him offside. Therefore, the score line remained at 4-1, in favour of United.
In the 85th minute, Anderson played Nani, who found Evra with a return pass. However, after Evra was ruled offside, he got a mini lecture from Nani that the pass was actually meant for Gibson.

In the second minute of the 3 minute additional time, Owen went on to unleash a curling shot at the Schalke goal. However, Neuer was up to the task once again as he denied the Englishman a Champions League goal.
Soon the match ended with United winning the game by four goals to one on the night and by six goals to one in the tie.
Now the Red Devils are set to face Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Final at the Wembley Stadium in London, to determine which one of them will be crowned as the European club champion for the season.
