UEFA Champions League match report: Napoli 1-1 Bayern Munich: second half report
Bayern got the second half underway and after just four minutes into the half, they were awarded a penalty-kick after the referee fouled Cannavaro for handling the ball inside the box. Replays showed that the referee got his decision
wrong as it was unintentional.
Gomez stepped up to take the spot-kick and his poor effort was saved by De Sanctis to deny the visitor’s the lead.
Bayern continued to attack and had a lovely opportunity to score from a corner in the 54th minute. The cross from the corner found http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Van-Buyten-c10095 from six yards but he could not get the power behind his shot and it
was half saved by De Sanctis before the rebounded effort was slash wide of the far post by Thomas Muller.
Just before the hour mark, Franck Ribery fell inside the Napoli box and the Bayern players claimed a penalty but the referee showed a yellow card to the Frenchman instead.
The game was played at high intensity and the cards were flying out of the referee’s pocket, as Lavezzi and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anatoliy-Tymoshchuk-c5539 received yellow cards for foul play.
The Bavarians were definitely the stronger of the two sides and came close to scoring with another chance in the 72nd minute. Kroos and Schweinsteiger led a superb counter-attacking run from the fight flank and the former
tried an ambitious effort from outside the box but the Azzurri defence cleared their lines.
Napoli created their first real threatening opportunity of the half in the 76th minute, as a lovely passing move almost put Cavani through on goal but Van Buyten cleared the danger for his side.
Minutes later, Lavezzi led a strong run on the break but Muller hauled down the Argentinean to see a yellow card.
The host’s made the first substitution of the game, as Cavani was replaced by Blerim Dzemaili in the 81st minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 looked to slow down the pace of the game in the dying stages and kept the ball rolling in their
own half. Kroos picked up the 7th booking of the game after a late tackle on Inler.
Both teams used their remaining subs in the stoppage time but none of them could make an impact as the game finished 1-1.
