UEFA President Michel Platini criticizes Italian Stadiums
The President of the European football governing body, more commonly known as UEFA, Mr Michael Platini believes that introducing the fair play policy is justified as it enables places like Italy to stay at par with the high spending European elites out there.
He further emphasized Italy’s need to work on its stadium infrastructure.
Reflecting on Italy’s image in European football, Platini felt that the region still had a long way to go in its quest to match the rest of the field, with the need for rigorous housekeeping to improve the general perception of the footballing community.
The President of UEFA was quick to remind that the region in question won the World Cup in 2006 and Serie A side, Inter Milan, find themselves as the present holders of the UEFA Champions League. However, despite the impressive manpower that Italy has at
its disposal, there is still a dire need to work on its stadiums.
Platini stated, "The stadiums in Italy are not in good condition and the image is not nice because empty stadiums are a real disaster. Laws over redevelopment of infrastructure and stadiums is very important.”
The UEFA official further added that without proper facilities, Italian football will actually be looked down upon despite the prominent talent.
Going over his plans regarding the Fair Play policy adopted by the European football body, Platini offered,
"We will have financial fair play. It's a UEFA congress decision backed by all European clubs. All the football families want to do something. European football has lost plenty of money, and I have to help football be careful in future.”
However, Platini confessed that it was an uphill battle and a lot of things needed to be catered to in order to bridge the gap to other popular football venues, but seeing as the future of European football depended on upgrading the facilities in Italy,
it is a step that needs to be taken.
Places like England and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 have received more than their fair share of limelight despite Italy gaining more recognition on the national and club front in relevant competitions - Perhaps Platini could eventually play the role of fairy godmother as it really
is high time that Cinderella be treated like the gem that she really is.
