UEFA charge Arsene Wenger and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 for improper conduct
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and midfielder Samir Nasri have been charged with improper conduct by the Union of European Football Associations.
The duo has come under fire for using ‘inappropriate language’ towards referee Massimo Busacca after Arsenal’s Champions League round of 16 second leg encounter against Barcelona.
The Gunners lost 3-1 at the Nou Camp, courtesy of goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Busquets-c33048, which unluckily
ended up in his own net.
However, things might have been very different had http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 not been sent off with a quarter of the game left to play. The striker was shown a second yellow card by referee Massimo Busacca for time wasting. Van Persie had kicked the ball away a second
after the whistle had gone for offside, and Busacca had adjudged the offence worthy of a second yellow card. Analysts believe it was a harsh decision, one which Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels ruined the entire contest.
The Gunners’ boss confronted the Swiss referee after the match, allegedly using foul language against the official. The argument continued as the teams made their way into the tunnel. According to Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola, Wenger had even gone so far
as to tell him to congratulate the match official for Barcelona’s victory.
Speaking after the match, Wenger questioned whether Robin van Persie’s second yellow card was fair.
The Arsenal manager said, “What for? If it's a bad tackle or a second bookable offence okay, but frankly it is embarrassing. I spoke to UEFA people. They are shocked as well because it killed a promising, fantastic football match.”
It seems that midfielder Samir Nasri had also vented his anger towards Busacca after the match. Nasri, along with manager Arsene Wegner has been charged by the UEFA for using inappropriate language with the Swiss referee.
If the charges stay, both Nasri and Wenger face a ban of up to two matches.
