European football's governing body UEFA is set to investigate the alleged racist slurs hurled at Yaya Toure and Mario Balotelli during Manchester City's Europa League tie with FC Porto.
Racism has again raised its ugly head in recent months, with numerous controversies showcasing the dark side of the beautiful game.
John Terry’s comments on Anton Ferdinand’s colour have led to a series of events, which culminated in the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello from the England National team.
The Luis Suarez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, with the F.A trying their best to control the situation before it went out of hand.
Now the latest development is again surrounding an English side, but on foreign lands, as Manchester City players Yaya Toure and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 for their UEFA Europa League
tie.
The situation has threatened to escalate further when the two sides meet in the 2nd leg and UEFA has announced that they will be probing into the matter to solve things quickly and as smoothly as possible.
A statement released by the Federation announced their intentions and revealed that the case will be dealt with on the 29th of March.
"Following a complaint lodged by Manchester City FC, UEFA has today opened disciplinary proceedings against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 for the improper conduct of supporters ... during their UEFA Europa League round of 32 first-leg match against Manchester City FC last week."
"The UEFA control and disciplinary body will deal with the case on March 29,” the official statement read.
Nearly everyone involved with the game have reiterated that there is no room for racism in the sport, but often there are cases which need to be dealt with properly.
Manchester City were expected to be given a hostile reception at the highly charged atmosphere of the Dragao, but racism was something that came out of the blue.
Porto are likely to be fined due to the behavior of their supporters and will be taunted even more ferociously by the Citizens’ faithful when they travel to Manchester for the return leg on the 22nd of February.
