UEFA to keep a stern eye on Marseille for crowd trouble – UEFA Champions League
UEFA have vowed to keep a keen eye on Marseille for crowd trouble after complaints of crowd trouble in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages last season. Marseille were pitted against Manchester United in the round of sixteen
and there were numerous reports of crowd trouble when the English Premier League giants made their away trip to France to play against Marseille at the French giant’s home stadium. Marseille are one of the most well supported club’s in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 but their home
support is seen as a troublesome faction.
UEFA’s head of match day operations who is in charge of match day security is someone who has voiced his concern over the situation with regard to Marseille in the UEFA Champions League this season. In his latest letter to UEFA,
Marl Vouillamoz said, "No reason to doubt the veracity of the supporters' accounts of events believing there was "a negative attitude on the part of the police to supporters in general."
There were reports last season that Manchester United’s fans were beaten up by the French police outside Marseille’s home stadium and not only that there were large groups of United’s away support who were held in a separate area
before the match kicked off. Marseille are due to host http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 from the English Premier League in the month of December but things have already been changed at Stade Valedrome where the entrance for the away fans has been diverted to a different path now.
Vouillamoz further stated, “Uefa will be paying close attention to the treatment of away supporters at this venue during the coming season but claimed much of the trouble was caused by, the late arrival of many United supporters
and the disorderly behaviour of a small minority. We will be talking to Marseille. It is, however, of interest that the report highlights an improvement in the access arrangements for away supporters and an improvement in facilities in Hall 7.”
