UFC 141 gives fans Jacob Volkmann vs. Efrain Escudero – Preview: UFC 141
Two of the most well known mixed martial art (MMA) fighters, Jacob Volkmann and Efrain Escudero will lock hands at UFC 141 produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Both fighters will take part in the lightweight bout set for the preliminary card for UFC 141, which is scheduled to take place on December 30, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The American MMA fighter Volkmann will have to be on the offensive against Mexican
MMA fighter Escudero. It has been expected that the two will have to give a great fight to win their matches because both have the potential to be the winner.
Looking back on their past performance, Volkmann has won thirteen fights in his career with 2 losses while Escudero has won nineteen fights with 3 losses. Volkmann’s two defeats came back to back at UFC 106 and UFC 108. He has maintained a nine bout winning
streak prior to his losses and currently holds a four fight winning streak. This will prove to be a motivational factor for Volkmann for he will use his wins for a leverage. On the other leverage, Escudero lost his fight in May 2011 against Fabricio Camoes
but won the other two in July and October 2011.
Escudero might have some difficulty going against Volkmann for he hasn’t stepped in the UFC ring for nearly fifteen months. The last time he contested in the UFC was in September 2010 when he fought Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night. This will give Volkmann
the upper hand for he has been contesting in UFC since November 2009. The in-ring environment of all MMA promotions is different and it is a known fact that UFC is known for its receptive crowd and aggressive fighting styles. Escudero will need to adjust while
fighting against Volkmann for the latter will certainly have the insights of how to blend inside the UFC cage.
Both fighters will need to focus on their fighting styles and techniques. Talking about techniques, Volkmann will focus on his submission moves for he has a winning rate of 50% and won most of his fights by compelling his opponents to submit. Volkmann will
also need to focus on Escudero’s takedowns. Escudero has a 42% rate of successfully taking down his opponents while Volkmann has a 38% success rate. Either of the two opponents can take the win but the fighter who strikes the first punch will have the lead
and gain momentum as the bout progresses.
