UFC 87: George St. Pierre vs. Jon Fitch?

Fitch- 8 fight win streak in the UFC; however, they've been by decision and submission. (Only one TKO against Thiago Alves). Wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu brown belt.

GSP- 11 wins in the UFC. Only 2 losses to Hughes by submission and TKO.

Fitch's strength is ground but I don't think that anyone would argue that Fitch would out-wrestle or have any hold of GSP on the ground. GSP can definitely make this a stand-up fight if he wants to so is this any less than 80/20 GSP?

  1. GSP by murder round  1 lol j/p. GSP by TKO (Strikes) early in the second round.

  2. GSP lossed to Matt Hughes and Matt Serria, Hughes by submission and Serria by TKO.

It doesn't matter where this fight goes GSP will win all the battles, he has became a true elite in MMA and i don't see anybody being able to beat him. He manhandled both Matt Hughes and Matt Serria in his last two boughts. Better get used to seeing GSP as the champion

  3. going to be good, anything happens in this sport, remember

  4. Anything can happen, but barring any huge mistake by GSP, I think he beats Fitch in dominant fashion.  Fitch is unbeaten, but his wins haven't been in impressive fashion.  He's decent in everything but not exceptional in anything either.  GSP, on the other hand, has fought opponents that are of a higher calibre than Fitch's.  He is strong and his standup is probably one of the best if not the best in the division.  We are now seeing how good he is on the ground as well.  His wrestling is pretty dominant right now.  I just think that this fight is GSP's to lose.

GSP by TKO in round 1.

  5. I'm actually going to be at this event so I hope it's a good one. I believe that GSP has a more well rounded game than Fitch. Fitch has a very strong wrestling background as he wrestled at NCAA Div-1 powerhouse Purdue. However, GSP has already outwrestled some of the best wrestlers in the Welterweight division (i.e. Matt Hughes & Josh Koscheck). I do think though that the percentage of FItch winning is 80/20. I'd probably have to say somewhere around 70/30. But the craziest things can happen in MMA. I'm sure on one ever gave Matt Serra a chance against GSP, but look at what he did. I just hope its a really good fight. I'm gonna say GSP by Submission in the third round.

  6. GSP is just as strong or stronger than Fitch, but more gifted physically, with a better all around game. GSP wins by KO or TKO.

  7. Fitch's strength is on the ground, but his teammate, Josh Koscheck, is an NCAA Div I wrestling champion and got dominated by GSP.  Rush has more diverse striking as well, but he hasn't showcased it since his loss to Serra, which has made some question his confidence standing on the feet.  A GSP at his best is better than a Fitch at his best, but we'll have to see how prepared both fighters are when the match begins.  Fitch definitely has the tools to get the victory, but St. Pierre shouldn't lose this fight.

  8. yeah i agree with everyone else i think GSP will win by either KO or TKO in the second round because he outwrestled Koschec who is a way better wrestler than Fitch is, and I think that GSP is a better all around fighter.

  9. i think we all should expect a complete destruction of jon fitch

  10. id go more 70-30, im in favor of anything can happen in a fight...although i would think GSP is not gonna take another opponent lightly and may just come in to this fight more focused then ever and roll through Fitch...which i hope doesnt happen...id love to see fitch win but really i just want a good fight...
