UFC 87 Herring or Lesnar who will come up on top?

Lesnar will be seeking a comeback to prove himself

Herring who has a record of 28wins 13losses will be looking for a title run if he beats lesnar.

Well, Herring as the experience but this is a bad match up for him. Herring has very poor wrestling. even though he beat Congo but he was manhandled. Congo took him down at will. Lesnar has great wrestling skills. Herring is a striker, thus he's gonna stand up with Lesnar, but Lesnar size and strength can be problematic for him. Most people says that Herring will win, but I have some serious doubt and reservation.

I really think Brock is gonna win this. Herring was taken down at will by Jake O'Brien, and controlled the entire fight. Lesnar is a far better wrestler than Jake, and that's where I see this fight going, with Brock continually taking Herring down and pounding on him. Heath's a very well rounded cat, but Brock's wrestling is gonna cause tons of problems for him. Anyway I think Brock takes this by unanimous decision.

Lesnar will probably take Herring down easily, but on the ground Herring is virtually unsubbable and a master of avoiding punishment. Herring could probably do enough to win, but then again the takedowns could count in the favor or Lesnar.

I will give the edge to Herring by way of more experience, but wouldn't be terribly surprised if Lesnar won.

I would say Lesnar-Herring struggeld against Irish Jake o Brien in his debut (he lost that fight) and O'brien was all wrestling.  Brock is a far superior wrestler so I think Brock would win by GNP

Herring does not have poor wrestling! In terms of collegiate wrestling, Brock comes out on top, but heaths wrestling has been adapted for MMA and has worked well for him many times. Herring also easily has the edge in striking and submissions.

you know, the consensus amongst the so-called "hardcore" fans is that herring will come out on top but i see otherwise.  basically what i am going off of is the herring-o'brien fight where heath had no answer to the takedown and looked down right embarrassing on the ground.  while jake is a very good wrestler he is not on the level of lesnar by any means.  next point of emphasis is that cheick kongo, a kickboxer with little ground game, was also able to get herring down at will(in a fight that herring eventually one, but it still exposed a weakness).  i see lesnar getting the quick takedown and either pounding out a tko victory in the third, or winning a one-sided decision.  i really see heath as a strong underdog in this fight.

and herring is no bum as one poster has called him.  he is a very good fighter but as we have all seen styles make fights and unfortunatly this is not a good fight for heath

Herring has good take-down defense but once he is on the ground he holds the position so the Ref will stand them up. Herring has a tested jaw and take a punch... Lesnar's jaw has not be tested yet. If Herring could keep the fight standing, which I doubt he could, Herring could win. But if Lesnar can get ahold of Herring; Lesnar would easily win the fight. It would be a good match-up.

Lesnar is just so big and powerful. I think he is alot like Kimbo Slice though. You aren't going to get much better in just a little time. Give him time and he might be worth the hype. Right now he's not worth the hype. I take Herring.

Lesnar wins hands down.  Lesnar is good for the UFC and they need him to win.  He was strong against Mir (former UFC champ), and should handle this bum easily.
