Question:

UFC 91: Couture & Lesnar. Should Brock be talking?

Randy is too old to be coming back.. the dude is almost 50, but he is a UFC legend & a very skilled fighter.

Brock is talking too much sh*t, & the dude hasn't even proven himself. The guy's only had 3 fights, 2 of which he won. A 2-1 record is nothing, I'm not saying he's a bad fighter, but he's no where near Randy's level to be talkin smack. Don't get me wrong, I understand it's a fighter's duty to be confident & rag on his opponent, but there is a time & place for everything, & when you're being interviewed on ESPN & being asked how you think the fight will go? & you say that you're going to walk over a UFC legend? That kind of stuff is just aggravating, when this guy has no respect.

Randy will put him in his place.

  1. That's what Brock wants. He is obviously trying to p**s people off with his lack of respect. In the long run it will probably make his some good money...The scary thing is I would put my money on Brock in this fight. Though I would sell my soul for Randy to win. I mean I would want Brock to loose no matter who fought but Randy? It dose not get worse then that

  2. Trash talking sells tickets, just like those "brawls" that seem to break out at so many press conferences and weigh ins. Brock knows how to create a character and use it to his advantage. People will pay money to watch someone they love fight, but they will also pay to see someone they hate get beaten. Bottom line, Couture is 45 and coming off of a long layoff. Lesnar has the size and strength advantage. Lesnar by KO. Deal with it.

  3. I wouldn't take it too seriously most of the trash talk is just to hype up the fight and draw in viewers.

  4. What he's doing is classic Public Relations hype - talking up the product.

Should it happen? Absolutely not. MMA is arguably in danger of becoming more about the media circus; the 'drama' and soap opera around the fighters than the fighting. In other words morphing into some kind of pro-wrestling farce.

It's really up to the fans to show whether they want the sport to descend into low-budget drama land or to be taken seriously.

I don't condemn Lesnar for this, I'm sure he's doing as he's been briefed to do - he has his next contract to negotiate after all.

Personally, I consider it encouraging that fans are seeing through this nonsense

  5. im glad to see Lesnar left the fake stuff for the real thing. Couture will beat him easily unless Brock gets a lucky punch. This isn't the WWE hes fake fighting in.

  6. EVERY fighter talks like that before the fight. You have to and you should. Even GSP the most humble opponent before the Serra fight said he was going to "more" than win. After the fight nothing but respect from both of them.

"Well he's really good, I am a little scared of him and I hope I win" is not going to give the confidence you need.

I am going to KICK his @$$ ! is the mentality you need to win.

But I will say Brock is a little much  at times so I can see your point as well!...(i.e. the post Herring fight antics)

  7. Randy wins by submission in the first, then happily completes his contract leaving to fight Fedor.

  8. It's you're classic over the hill fighter against the unproven up and comer. I have no definitive idea on how the fight will go, but I think I know why Lesnar is talking so much. Everyone keeps looking past this match up and thinking about Couture vs Fedor. That would upset me, if I were Lesnar. Randy did beat Sylvia, but Tim is no where near the physical specimen that Brock is. So who knows how it's going down???? I know that if Randy only thinks about Fedor, BAM! Straight right, KO! Randy needs to focus and he probably has it.
