UFC. Who would win, Anderson Silva or GSP?

I'd have to go with Silva.  His striking is devastating and even if you get him to ground his BJJ is awesome.  Whilst GSP is an exceptional fighter, he wouldn't be able to handle Silva

A lot of people won't agree with me but I think this fight would fairly easily go to Silva. He  has the weight, height and reach advatnage by far. His striking is on a different level than anyone else in the UFC. He is a black belt in BJJ and was able to nullify a greco-roman olympic level wrestler in Dan Henderson. Basically everything that makes GSP an awesome fighter, would be nullified by Anderson Silva's vastly superior striking and submissions.

Anderson Silva. GSP doesn't really possess knockout power. His wrestling is probably better than Silva's but Anderson's jiu jitsu is obviously better. GSP wins most fights by getting his opponent down and beating them to a TKO.

Anderson has devastating knockout power.

I'm a huge GSP fan but I have to give that one to Silva.

Just like how Fedor would beat Silva, Silva would beat GSP because of the weight difference is too much to overcome.

Silva - his striking is at least as good as GSP, but Silva is also about 25 lbs heavier...GSP is a really big 170 - I'm guessing he walks around at 190-195lbs.  Silva's walking around weight is almost 220 lbs.  

Silva's also got an enormous reach advantage.  

Both are skilled fighters, but Silva has too many physical advantages for St. Pierre.  It would be a good fight, but I don't think GSP has any plans to move up to 185, and I don't think Silva could make 170 if he tried.

I think both are great, but I'll have to go with Silva.

1. Silva's stand up is much better. I could see Silva knocking GSP out. ( If Serra did it, Anderson can definitely do it!)

2. GSP has better wrestling, but if he's close enough to take Silva down he's close enough to eat one of Silva's punches. Silva will also be close enough to try to get the clinch and just pound away with those knees.

3. If GSP does take Silva down( which I won't be surprised if he did cuz GSP is a beast as well), Silva has great Jiu-jitsu. Remember what he did to Travis Lutter and Hendo. He got his BJJ Black belt from the Nogueira's FYE

I'm just pointing out why I think Silva would win, but don't get me wrong. I think GSP is an awesome fighter. I wouldn't be surprised if it went to a decision or if GSP even won. I'm just saying who I would put my money on and why, but if you've seen as much MMA as I have you know to expect the unexpected.

Great question....and hard to answer.

Those guys are, pound for pound, the best fighters in MMA right now.  That said, I think GSP will win that match.  GSP will have to move up to 185 lbs (and Silva will have to make weight at 185), so the weight difference doesnt really matter.

Noone is ever going to get rich betting against Silva though...the guy is dominant!  GSP is just as quick (if not faster) than Silva and has a better ground game.  That combo should enable GSP to beat Silva.  If GSP were to stand with Silva, I dont give GSP much of a chance to win.

Silva. He is too big for GSP. I think Silva would KO or TkO GSP in second round. Would be an interesting match, but I believe the true competition for Silva will come from top notch LHW rather than a weight class below.

As much as I love GSP and as much of a big fan I am of his. I am going to say Anderson Silva. He is the best fighter and by far the better fighter than GSP. Anderson Silva bulldozes everyone he fights. I think GSP wouldn't have a chance unless he really really trained hard. But anything can happen in a sports world.
