UFC fighter Forrest Griffin thinking of retirement – UFC News
The 32-year-old American mixed martial art (MMA) fighter, Forrest Griffin has been an MMA fighter for almost ten years is thinking to hang his fighting gloves for good. According to reports pouring in about the famed fighter, Griffin
is planning to retire in the near future.
Griffin has been thinking about retirement after his loss in August 2011 by the hands of Mauricio Rua. His bout with Rua was at UFC 134 which he was unable to win. Since 2008, Griffin has contested in five bouts but could only
win three of them. His recent form has also been on the lower end as he lost two consecutive bouts to Rashad Evans at UFC 92 in December 2008 followed by a defeat to Anderson Silva at UFC 101 in August 2009.
While talking about his retirement Griffin said, “If anything, for me now, I’m realizing that I don’t have much left. This is the end of the road for me. I want a couple of more fight fights, you know, good ones! Fights where I
don’t get knocked out in the first round. Fights where I get hurt and bleed a little but I kinda rally back. Something of that nature. As far as a fight with Tito, yeah, it would be good but do people want to see it?”
Griffin has been a professional MMA fighter since 2001 and he has proved his worth. He has the view that he has nothing left to prove inside the octagon fighting ring. During an interview Griffin had the view that he might contest
in a few fights in the near future but he will not extend his career further. Although his professional MMA career began with a loss by the hands of Dan Severn in October 2001 but he later went on to prove his fighting skills and became one of the toughest
contenders.
In April 2005 he made his successful UFC debut against Stephan Bonnar at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 1 Finale which he also won in the end. Ever since reports of his retirement surfaced, the UFC and MMA fans have shown concern for
the fighter. They all wait the time when he would enter the fighting ring for the last time and who he would face as his final opponent.
