American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, Joey Beltran has been a professional MMA fighter since 2007. Recently he expressed his views regarding his future. According to Beltran, he still thinks he needs to do something else than
just fighting. Although he has been fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) since February 2010, he still has to decide where his future lies in the world of MMA.
He lost his debut MMA bout in February 2007 against Yohan Banks at Strikeforce: Young Guns event. But then he had a four fight winning streak. He lost to Tony Lopez at King of the Cage (KOTC) Opposing Force event in May 2008 but
then had a five fight winning streak. He again lost to Tony Lopez at KOTC: Distorted event in October 2009.
For him, fighting for the UFC was a dream which he realized in February 2010. He made his UFC debut at UFC 109 against Rolles Gracie Jr. Beltran won the debut bout by a technical knockout (TKO) in the second round. He lost the
next two bouts at UFC in straight succession. His recent loss was at the UFC 136 in October 2011 where he was defeated by Stipe Miocic.
Although Beltran has been a good fighter with technical skills and strong strategic sense inside the octagon fight ring, he given a notion that his purpose of life is in the MMA. Moreover, he views that his future would be in teaching
martial arts and in coaching young learners of the combat sport. Beltran said, “I think martial arts have gotten me to my calling. But I believe my true calling is coaching and teaching martial arts, primarily to children. I have a really special connection
to my students. I have a couple older guys that I help out, but my calling is really coaching martial arts to the youth.”
Beltran has always enjoyed working with children young learners of martial arts and mixed martial arts. He takes inspiration from those who come to get training from them. He gets positive vibes from parents when they come to him
and tell that he is the reason why their children’s lives have changed. What influenced Beltran was the fact that all those children who used to get bullied became stronger once Beltran told those children to stand up for themselves.
