Does anyone know why when UFC fighters are fighting, and they punch or jab (or whatever) there opponent and they make a little "Phsht or Phss" sound...why do they do that? I mean is it natural and they can't help it, or is it some kind of strategy? I mean can some one just help me because it really confuses me.

Please + Thankyou

  1. Its for either:

A)) Making your attack stronger and faster

    and:

B)) Helps so they dont get the wind knocked out of them and tightens the stomach muscles.

  2. It helps with breathing... It also helps with power of the punch!!!

  3. mouthgaurds have 2 channels for airflow through them.that's why the sound phhhfffffffft when a fighter inhales or exhales sharply.exhaling sharply on throwing a punch allows you to tork  your waist into the punch delivering more power than if you just punch with arms alone.

  4. just like boxing and most other physical activities, you exhale as your exerting energy to maximize your power or output...in fighting however, this also exhales the wind so you cant get the wind knocked out of you while punching if you miss...

  5. to help take the punch/impact. it isnt all of them its just a random thing some fighters pick up to absorb blows

  6. its so tehy can breathe

  7. all athletes exhale when exerting energy. it helps regulate your breathing. also if you are hit then you dont have air in your lungs so it doesnt knock the wind out of you.  it helps you generate more power as well.  known as a KIA in karate
