UFC on FOX 2 to feature Cody McKenzie fight against Michael Johnson – UFC News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will hold an event at UFC on FOX 2 on January 28 2012. The event will feature American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Cody McKenzie fight against compatriot MMA fighter Michael Johnson.
Both fighters were castmates in 2010 on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12, an event produced by the UFC. In 2012, these colleagues in the UFC ring will be facing each other at UFC on FOX 2 when the event is held at the United Center, Chicago.
According to news from the UFC officials that came on December 2, 2011, their bout would be for the lightweight category. McKenzie would be fighting for survival as he has already lost two straight losses in the UFC. Ever since
he made his MMA career, he was undefeated from his debut bout in April 2007 to December 2010. He won twelve consecutive bouts, which includes one win through knock out while all eleven were won by his guillotine choke submission move.
For Mckenzie, the year 2011 was unproductive. He lost both of his bouts this year and could get some serious notice from UFC if he fails to win his out in February against Johnson. McKenzie lost to Yves Edwards at UFC: Fight for
the Troops 2 in January 2011. His second loss in the year 2011 came in September 2011 when Vagner Rocha defeated him at UFC Fight Night event.
Johnson, on the other hand, made his UFC debut in December 2010 at The Ultimate Fighter event but lost in his first UFC fight against Jonathan Brookins. In 2011, Johnson had two bouts in which he lost one and was victorious in
the other one. In June 2011, he won the fight against Eddie Faaloloto at UFC Live event. He then lost to Paul Sass at UFC Live event in October 2011.
For both fighters, the UFC on FOX 2 event would be an important one for sure. They both need a win in this event to get their MMA career moving ahead. The two fighters have been teammates before and they would know many insights
about each other. They can predict each other’s moves and would have a counter move, which would keep the fight interesting until the end.
