UFC on FOX 2 will feature Martin Kampmann against Thiago Alves in March 2012 – UFC News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be hosting UFC on FOX 2 next year. According to the UFC officials, Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Thiago Alves will be facing Dutch MMA fighter Martin Kampmann at UFC on
OFX 2. The reports of the fight were confirmed by UFC management.
Both fighters have been on a winning run in the recent past. Alves won seven straight fights from October 2006 and October 2008. This was the era in his career when he was in his best form, for this was his longest consecutive
winning streak. At UFC 100 in July 2009, he lost to Georges St-Pierre. The bout was for the UFC Welterweight Championship but Alves could not secure a win. Alves lost two back-to-back bouts from July 2009 to August 2010. He did win his bout at UFC 124 against
John Howard in December 2011 but lost the next fight at UFC 130 against Rick Story in May 2011.
In November 2011, Alves won his fight against Papy Abedi at UFC 138. He would be looking to get a win at UFC on FOX 2 to get another straight win. For that he should focus on his strikes and a possible takedown in the early goings
of the bout. On the other hand, Kampmann also had a similar kind of a career.
He enjoyed a winning streak from March 2005 to June 2008 where he won nine straight fights. He then kept losing and winning his bouts but did not enjoyed another straight run wins. For him, UFC on FOX 2 would be an event where
he can win the fight to get back in his winning momentum. He lost two consecutive bouts in October 2010 and March 2011.
In October 2010 he lost to Jake Shields at UFC 11 while in March 2011 he was defeated by Diego Sanchez at the UFC Live event which was held in Kentucky, USA. Both fighters have been great fighters in the welterweight circuit and
have proven their worth in many occasions. They would be eying a win in the UFC on FOX 2 event in March 2012 and further extend their career wins in an attempt to get a possible welterweight title match in the future.
