UFC once again at the Patriot Center in Virginia– UFC News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship will make its second trip to the Patriot Center in Virginia on Tuesday, May 15. The first trip that took place in January 2010 was a highly successful one, which has compelled the UFC management to hit Virginia again.
More or less all fights for the Virginia show have been confirmed. The main event will be a bout between Dustin Poirier vs. Chan Sung Jung. Dustin is a rising star whereas ‘The Korean Zombie’ Jung is among one of the very few internationally renowned UFC
fighters. It should be noted here that the winner of this bout would be the next challenger for Jose Aldo’s UFC 145- pound title.
President UFC Dana White spoke about the event in a media encounter. He iterated, “We’re excited to head back to the Patriot Center again with another great night of fights, including a featherweight main event pitting Dustin Poirier against ‘The Korean
Zombie. Poirier and ‘The Korean Zombie’ are two of the most exciting fighters in the UFC. This is going to be a fun fight. From top to bottom, I will deliver for the fans in Virginia.”
In addition, General Manager of the Patriot Center, Barry Geisler expressed his excitement as well saying, “We are thrilled to have UFC return to the Patriot Center. UFC provides a unique and live sporting event experience that MMA fans will not want to
miss come May 15th.”
Some other fights that have been confirmed for the event include a lightweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Jeremy Stephens, a middleweight bout between Jason MacDonald and. Tom Lawlor, a light heavyweight bout between Igor Pokrajac and Thiago Silva and
a bantamweight bout between Mike Easton and Yves Jabouin. More fights will be announced soon, however the aforementioned ones are the most prominent fights of the show. As of now, it is being expected that this show will attract more crowd than the previous
one since the demand of UFC in Virginia has grown enormously following January’s successful show.
