UFC releases Eliot Marshall from promotion; defeats in 2011 cited as reason – UFC News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has taken a huge step. The UFC management have taken their mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Eliot Marshall from the list of active fighters. This decision has been taken after Marshal was
unable to secure a win in the last two fights. Marshall, the 31-year old MMA fighter had a great start in his professional MMA career when he won the first four fights. He had a successful debut in June 2006 when he defeated Mike Altman at ROF 24 event by
a submission move.
In his fifth fight, he faced his first defeat against Rob MacDonald at ROF (Ring of Fire) 31 in December 2007 by a technical knockout. Marshall did enjoy another three winning streak but that did not be useful in saving his career
with the UFC. He made his successful debut in December 2008 at The Ultimate Fighter event against Jules Bruchez. He then won his bout in April 2009 at UFC 97 against Vinny Magalhaes which was followed by a win over Jason Brilz at UFC 103 in September 2009.
After winning three fights in UFC, Marshal lost his first ever fight in the UFC. Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC Live event in March 2010. He later won the next three fights in a row but these fights were not for the UFC. He won against
Josh Haynes at ROF 39 in August 2010, defeated Adriano Camolese at BTT MMA in September 2010 and later scored a win over Chris McNally at Nemesis Fighting in December 2010. Marshall returned to the UFC octagon in 2011 but could not win any of the two bouts
he was part of this year.
He lost to Luiz Cane at UFC 128 in March 2011 and later returned with a defeat by Brandon Vera at UFC at 137 in October 2011. Marshall, nicknamed The Fire has been released by the UFC as he could not ignite the crowd or the UFC
officials and management with his fighting abilities. The two back-to-back losses in the UFC circuit this year were the main reason why the UFC management decided it was time for Marshall to leave the promotion. On the social media, Marshall confirmed the
reports by saying, "Well its official. I have been released by the UFC."
