UFC returns to Canada; Rory MacDonald to face Che Mills in a welterweight bout – UFC News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is making its way to Canada after a long time. According to reports, UFC will be holding UFC 145 in Montreal, Quebec in March 2012. This will be for the fourth time when UFC will be making
its way to Canada. UFC came to Canada for the first time at UFC 83 in April 2008 followed by UFC 97 in April 2009, UFC 113 in May 2010 and UFC 124 in December 2010.
UFC has not been to Canada much but the response by the Canadian fans has always been great. According to reports coming from the UFC circuit, the welterweight bout between Canadian mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Rory MacDonald
and British MMA fighter Che Mills has been finalized for the event. As per reports, this is the first bout of the event which has been booked and other fights will be finalized in the near future.
CEO of the UFC, Dana White has confirmed that soon after the bout was announced by the UFC, both the fighters have verbally agreed to the fight. The 22-year-old MacDonald had signed a deal with the UFC in 2010 and in January 2010
he made his UFC debut against American MMA fighter Mike Guymon at UFC Fight Night: Maynard vs. Diaz. On the other hand, Mills, the 29-year-old MMA fighter has been a new comer in the UFC. He made his UFC debut in November 2011 against Chris Cope at UFC 138
and won the bout in the first round.
Both fighters will be in action when UFC is held at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Since 2008, UFC had decided to make Canada their stop-over for a UFC event. They did hold an event in 2008 and 2009 and in 2010 they held two events.
All four events have been a success as they featured MMA fighters from Canada showcasing their fighting spirit in front of their home crowd. MacDonald would also be eager to fight in his home town and get a win that will help him boost his career. In the UFC,
he has fought four bouts and won three of them. His opponent, Mills, has contested in the UFC once and came out successful.
