i have just started landing axel out of the harness for like about two weeks. i havent had any problems ( i mean except for normal falls) until today i tried alot ( maybe to much, i might have overdone it) and they were fine and i landed 4 out of well.... alot which isnt bad but towards the end i started two footing them and even when i tried them off the ice i two footed them!!! im really worried that this will become a bad habit.... or maybe its all in my head. i tend to overthink and worry about things but anyways if you could help me on how not to two foot my axel then that would be great!!!!

  1. hey well ive done that before wen i was younger and its probably mostly just mental, next time u try , just try not to thing about it,  push strongly into the air, lift your free leg and pull your arms in tight... make sure your legs are in the backspin position and point your toes of the foot ur landing on, do not bring your feet or arms out of the jump intil you know youve landed on the right foot then extent your free leg and arms for a nice landing.

dont worry its mostly just mental just make sure to get lotsa height ad point the toe of the landing foot.!

if this happens again take 10 minutes and do something else, then come back to it :)

    good luck :)

  2. To make sure you don't land on two feet, cross your legs in the air, literally ankle to ankle and you will not land on two feet.  Practice back scratch spins and waltz-loops (keep the loops very tight).  When you are taking off for the jump, make sure your leg is bent and when you jump you think "snap!"  After you snap backwards, all you have to do is a loop!  Think about that (and crossing your feet) and you will be ok.  Good luck!

  3. Be careful of that over trying thing -- it can almost be worse than not trying at all!!  :)  Been there....too often!  I had a hard time landing on one foot for awhile too.  Adding more snap to my take off seemed to help that.  In my take off, I think of getting my knee through as high as I can and snapping into a backspin.  It seemed to help.  :)

  4. practice a lot of back scratches checking out nice and quick like you would when doing your axle. practice landing on your right foot by just going backwards on the ice, jumping up, and landing with your right foot on the ice and body in checkout form. also, do your axle off ice with no skates on as many times as you can. really focus on keeping your weight on your right side when doing them, too. my friend landed two footed for the longest time, and it helped her to pull her hands together near her right shoulder to keep her weight on the right. i don't know how it worked, but it helped her land them . :]

  5. it is definitely all in your head. my advice is to take a little time off from it, maybe work on spins or something. then go to your most solid single jump and check out strongly from it. don't overthink it, just do it how you normally do or you'll end up two footing that one also. now go back to your axel and really concentrate on checking out. remember that feeling of landing it. it might help to do it from a standstill at first. you will get it back, don't stress. if you did it before, you can do it again. good luck!!
