UGH SOO SCARED!? Please help?

I am 17 weeks pregnant.Tomorrow i am getting a amniocentesis!! I am 27 years old and my chance of having a down syndrome baby is 1 out of 50!! My doc told me my numbers should be 1 out of 914.My first child it came up to be 1 out of 712. ( she was born fine) No1 in my fam. has down syndrome. Soo I'm just really scared and nervous.. Any1 here experienced this? If soo some of ur answers would be truly helpful. THANKS SOO MUCH.

  1. Why is your chance so high all of a sudden? It doesn't make sense - you don't have a family history, you're not of advanced maternal age...

    The same thing happened to my sister and she was FREAKING out for the two weeks leading up to her appointment. She called everybody - trying to prepare them just in case - but truth be told, I think she was trying to prepare herself.

    Look, there is nothing you can do right now, right? You have to wait for the test. The stress isn't good for you and it isn't good for your baby either.

    You're better off not thinking about it and stressing about it. Of course, you do want to think about if there is a possibility - what you will do. It helps to be prepared for those "just in case" moments.... But freaking out and stressing doesn't do anything but make matters worse.
