UH earns impressive profit for National Collegiate Athletic Association – Volleyball news
It has been recently revealed that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has been able to earn a total profit close to $300,000.
These impressive amount of earnings have been made by the cash flows generated from the Division I women's volleyball championships. The earnings had been made to the Stan Sheriff Center in the December of the year gone by.
Cameron Schuh, who is the NCAA associate director for public and media relations expressed himself on the matter in the following words, “If there are great attendance numbers, that's a good thing, but it doesn't necessarily put them ahead of anyone else
for future years. Like we say with every site and every championship, each bid is reviewed on its merits on a case-by-case basis.”
This is not the first time that the University of Hawaii has been successful in drawing staggering amount of people to their gym in order to watch the teams show their volleyball skills. The UH has been able to do so for quite a lot of years. The previous
year saw the highest number of spectators that came to watch the match at 16,478. This turnout was accommodated during the first as well as the second round of the NCAA tournament. The closest that any university came to UH’s turnout was the University of
Nebraska. The highest number of spectators that Nebraska hosted totalled to be 8,353.
The UH was not only able to make its mark in the NCAA divisional championships, it also stood out in terms of turnout for the regionals. The highest total that UH was able to achieve in the regionals was 19,746 whereas the closest that any university got
to that number was Florida, which was able to put up a tally of 7,026.
The associate athletic director of the UH, Carl Clapp, made it known that the total number of profit produced for the NCAA was $295,630.
However, the UH got its share of the profits out of the money generated as well. The portion of the earnings that came to UH is $52,170.
