I don't have a car and want to buy a queen mattress of of craiglist. There are some really great deals on there, so I was thinking of buying one. Problem is, most of the people with the best deals in my area require you to pick up the mattress and frame. I cannot do this b/c I don't have a car, and I don't know anyone with a truck willing to pick it up for me.

Should I get a UHaul in this type of situation? How much does it cost within Orange County? Where do I go for this? Is it possible for somebody else to drive it, or do I have to? Can somebody else just take care of the labor of picking up the mattress and frame? Sorry for so many questions, I just don't know how to go about this. Thanks I appreciate in advance!! :)

  1. Don't get a Uhaul! It will be too expensive. They may advertise 19.95, but there are a lot of fees on top of that. If you have a home depot, check with them. I rented a pickup truck from them for about 20.00 actually to pick up mattresses, it was a lot cheaper. It is only 20 if you have the truck back in an hour, but it's only like $5 extra per half hour after that. As long as you have someone with you that can help you load/unload, you should be able to do it in an hour.

  2. You got it Crystal............home depot............you drive..........

  3. Even if you get a Uhaul, you won't be able to move a queen mattress on your own. It's not so much the weight but just the bulky size means you need another person grabbing the other end of it. Your should look for someone who's willing to help you. Once you find such a person, he can also help you drive the Uhaul. If you can't find someone to help you, then you'll have to hire people, which will be quite expensive.

  4. check out their website at http://www.uhaul.com/
