Question:

UK's band of torrential rainfall

I know that there is a north-easterly band of rain bad enough for severe weather warnings but will it be in Leeds anywhere from the 19th - 24th August? Or in Pitlochry, Scotland, anywhere from the 24th - 31st August?

Will the weather improve from now on? Or are we entering some sort of rainy season?

  1. I'm in Leeds, and the forecast keeps changing.  the latest is that tuesday will be heavy rains, but wed the 19th & fri 21st will be sunny and dry...but don't quote me on that!

It seems there has been a huge band of heavy cloud blanketing the whole of the north and east of england.  we are indeed amid a wet season, with some describing it as a "monsoon," which is not an exagerration: elsewhere in europe there have been horrendous conditions, and here in britain two cities have been waterlogged, with hundreds homeless.

Scotland will probably be wet on the days you describe.

  2. the weather can change dramatically over a 48hr period. the et office can only guess and what can happen on that day. ive enclosed the link for you to check on the met website.

    have a nice time!

  3. It sounded so CLEVER until you said "rainy season"
