UK Black bins?

Is it true they're thinking of emptying our black bins just once a month??? I can't believe it! Had to roll mine down the drive this morning a day early as it smelled like a dead elephant and maggots are crawling up the sides and out the closed lid somehow! And yes, I do double wrap stuff and recycle all I can!

I can't answer for the UK - I live in Swizerland. Our refuse if collected every two days, and we have people come to our door for glass, paper, aluminium cans and foil and PET plastics (pop bottle and certain milk cartons) once a week, but they are just a phone call away if you need them before. A friend's goat keeps the grass down when there is no snow, and any wood is cut into logs for the fire. What's going on in the UK sounds dreadful!
